This wiki is a collection of notes detailing significant concepts, artists and descriptions of sound works as starting points for further discovery of Sound as an art form. We hope that this website will provides a useful launch pad for artists initiating sound based art, who might want to first survey past and current directions that can be explored. In this way we hope this wiki builds context for further work.

A note from the Initiator

Although this wiki does not have a fixed hierarchical structure, I have seeded the wiki with main topic pages ArtAsResearch, SoundAsArt and SoundArtPractice. I hope that it's structure evolves from these poles. I have also started index nodes to provided another way into the notes that float between the main topic poles. The indexes listed above. By Sound Art/Research I mean the synthesis of an art practice with a reflective research process. I want to explore Sound Art from the point of view of a playful-creative research practice. To this end I have included a topic page called ArtAsResearch. Please feel free to add your own notes, corrections and references to this wiki, thank you - mcb the initiator (October 2002).
